World Book Day

March 5th, 2015  Tagged , ,

I know a lot of fantastic activities happened today as part of World Book Day, but I really wanted to share something I will remember for a very long time. 5 children from Year 5 and 6 came down to FS1 this morning, not really knowing what was going to be expected of them other than that they were going to share a book with the children.

Even more impressive was how much better the older children were at this when they arrived again at 1.15 to do the same activity with the afternoon children. They had learned from their previous mistakes, chosen different books if appropriate, adjusted their delivery of the story and their interactions with the children and were just generally amazing! It was a real moment of ‘Wow’ when I looked at the learning that was happening for all the children involved and I am very grateful to those 5 children and hope they enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed watching them.
